This post is brought to you by Food Science of Vermont, but as always, all opinions are mine.
I’m not gonna lie, I had a rough time in more ways than one for the past few months, and it negatively impacted my energy levels and my productivity as a whole for the longest time, so I decided to do something about it in order not to let many projects die out of inaction.
In addition to revamping my morning routine, I have also taken a closer look at my nutrition, and while I certainly try to stay healthy and eat well, I’m definitely not perfect.
That’s where my Food Science of Vermont’s Superior Reds lifesaving little jar comes in. I have been adding half a spoon of this powder into smoothies, juices, and sometimes even plain water. (I also tried coconut milk but it was a bit sweet for me, so I prefer to mix it up with more citric flavors now!)
This powder is loaded with nutrients that help boost energy levels, as well as immune and cardiovascular function, and the best part is that it’s also vegetarian and gluten free, so it goes right in line with the diet I prefer to maintain! And while it doesn’t replace your regular fruits and veggies, I do like to know that it gives me that extra upper hand for when I’m too busy to consume as many greens as I know I should, you know?
I definitely feel like it has helped me be more productive and stay awake when I need to get things done, as I was previously suffering from awful mid-day slumps when I wouldn’t want to do anything other than sleep, and I felt like I was dragging myself back to my studio and forcing myself to work, despite only accomplishing half (or less) of what I had planned.
I like that such a natural product can help me because I definitely have no intention of overdoing caffeine, or making myself sick with crappy energy drinks like I had to resort to many a time while at uni. I need my energy, but I’m not willing to play with my health that way nowadays. Nope. I wish I had this when I was a student!
If you’re on the same boat, and would like to try this out, you can get it here or at your local Rite Aid®.
I’ll leave you now with my fave recipe (if you can call it that, because it’s so simple):
In a blender (or any other similar contraption you prefer) add a cup of water, a cup of frozen berries (any berries will do, but I love a mix of blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries), and half a spoon of Superior Reds powder. Let it mix for a few seconds, serve and enjoy (or carry in your bag)!
That smoothie is perfect to start your day, or pick yourself up when you have too much stuff to do to go have a siestain the middle of the afternoon. Let me know how it goes!
